Our History

As a United States Marine Corp reservist, Russell Palmer performed his duties as described for MOS 2512 - Field Telephone Wireman in Kuwait before, during and after Operation Desert Storm. Upon returning to Slidell, LA and going to work for Charter Communications, Russ started Custom Wiring Communications and served the area's home theater and other custom wiring needs. In early 2005, Russ made the professional move of testing for and receiving his state license for master electrician.

The year 2005 would prove to be a much more formative year for Russ and the New Orleans metropolitan area as Hurricane Katrina would destroy many homes and scatter the residents of this rich culture. Russ returned to the area before the bans were lifted and was immediately greeted by residents seeking his help in assessing their damage and restoring their electrical services. Meters, service stacks, and panels needed to be replaced. Many homes had to be gutted, treated for mold, and rebuilt.

The Northshore saw an explosion in new construction following Katrina as residents of Orleans, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines parish flocked to St. Tammany. Russ was happy to see them come, but his concern was for the residents who had their homes destroyed by the storm and wanted to rebuild. Remaining loyal to these families, Russ worked for many months restoring electrical service equipment and communicating with Entergy, Cleco, and WST to bring power back to the homes that families proudly rebuilt. That loyalty has earned Blue Wave Electric & Custom Wiring Communications a loyal customer base. We look forward to showing you what makes us so valuable to our customers and neighbors.
